1 Samuel 10
Saul Anointed King
Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on his head and kissed him and said, "Has not the Lord anointed you to be prince over his people Israel? And you shall reign over the people of the Lord and you will save them from the hand of their enemies. And this shall be the sign that the Lord has anointed you prince over his heritage. When you depart from me today, you will meet two men by Rachel's tomb in the territory of Benjamin at Zelzah and they will say to you, "The donkeys you went to seek are found, and now your father has ceased to care about the donkeys and is anxious of you saying, "What shall I do about my son?" Then you shall go farther to the oak of Tabor. You will meet 3 men going up to God at Bethel. One carrying 3 young goats, another carrying 3 loaves of bread, another carrying a skin of wine. They will greet you and give you 2 loaves of bread, which you shall accept from their hand. After that, come to Gibeath-elohim, where there is a garrison of the Philistines. As soon as you come to the city, you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with harp, tambourine, flute, and lyre before them, prophesying. The spirit of the Lord will rush upon you, and you will prophesy with them and change into another man. When these signs meet you, do what your hand finds to do, for God is with you. The go down before me to Gilgal (rolling). I will come down to offer burnt offerings (ascension) and to sacrifice peace offerings. Seven days you shall wait, until I come to you and show you what you shall do.
We know that Saul means (asked for, for selfish needs) and when one is anointed with oil sanctification of the Holy Spirit. This establishes a state of proper functioning which aligns Israel (wrestling God) with God's plan. This self-motivated outcome will have complete control and will emit power for self-preservation and selected over God's possession. The original purpose of seeking peace is now transfigured into God's providence. You will journey into a fortified stronghold and enter into a state where by the Holy Spirit you will reach a new awareness. From there on, you will perform within the power you have been granted, always in the presence of God. By the Holy Spirit, you will ascend and at the right time, you will receive guidance on what you shall do.
When he turned his back to leave Samuel, God changed his heart (countenance). The signs came to pass that day. They (outcome and choice) came to Gibeah (hill of Benjamin), behold, prophets (utterance) met him along with the Spirit of God and they prophesied and when all the people saw this they wondered what had come over him and if he was a prophet. And a man added, "Who is their father?". When finished they came to a high place.
When we connect with our Holy Spirit, it connects us to God's power. The way we walk and talk changes in a way that alters the perception of those around us (including ourselves), that knew us prior by our actions.
Saul's uncle asked where he had went. They said to seek donkeys, but could not find them and went to Samuel. The uncle asked Samuel what he said to him. Saul responded that the donkeys had been found, but of the matter of the kingdom Samuel discussed, it was not mentioned.
Sometimes a part of us asks for answers that are not yet available.
Saul Proclaimed as King
Samuel gathered everyone at Mizpah, before the Lord and said to the people of Israel, "Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, 'I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and the hand of all the kingdoms that oppressed you.' But today you have rejected your God, who saves you from all calamities and distresses, and you have said to Him, 'Set a king over us.' Now therefore present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and thousands.
God is there when we seek him and when we seek elsewhere. We remind ourselves that, "It will be ok. I can do it without God", but inside of us our Holy Spirit is telling us, "Well? You asked for it." When we decide to take complete control without God, we are living in Egypt. We are chained to ourselves. We become oppressed by ourselves...
Samuel brings all tribes near Israel and the tribes and clans of Benjamin (faith), Matrites (thoughts) were taken by lot (concealed) along with Saul (self will), but when sought he could not be found. The people inquired again. The Lord said, "He has hidden himself among the baggage". They ran and took him and when he stood among the people, he was taller than anyone in the people shoulder upward. Samuel said to the people, "Do you see him whom the Lord has chosen?. And all the people shouted, "Long live the king".
Our Holy Spirit allows us to see within our soul. When we choose self-will, we limit ourselves and this directly impacts our thoughts and beliefs. We see this shining part of us and hold it higher than everything else and behold it for the world to see.
Samuel told the people the rights and duties of this kingship and it was written in a book and laid it up before the Lord. Samuel then sent all the people away; each to his home. Saul also went to his home as Gibeah along with men of valor whose hearts the Lord had touched. But some worthless fellows said, "How can this man save us". They despised him and brought him no present. But he held his peace.
Everything involved in this collection of thoughts, ideas, actions will now be remembered and as this part of us settles in, it takes along with it great qualities within us. Unfortunately, we also carry with us parts that contribute no value.
How this speaks to me...
I have had many times when my self-will composed a symphony of pain and misery. I think that's what makes the eloquence of the Bible's text really stand out. This self will is a true production within me. It has complete power inside of me. My thoughts manifest into ideas and then into action. The assembly and organization of everything is God given, but not approved. The truth is hidden by a vail until such a time, when I call out to God. He takes everything about it and somehow amazingly uses it for good. When I am free, the memories stored along the way (including God's saving grace) allow me to gain understand as well as a new perspective. The end result is truth; a spiritual element necessary to provide hope for someone else suffering a similar circumstance.
