1 Samuel 12
Samuel's Farewell Address
Samuel said to all Israel, "Behold, I have obeyed your voice in all that you have said to me and have made a king over you. And now, behold, the king walks before you, and I am old (false belief) and gray; and behold my sons (subconscious) are with you. I have walked before you from you until this day. Here I am; testify against me before the Lord and before his anointed. Whose ox or donkey have I taken? Or whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Or from whose hand have I taken a bribe to blind my eyes with it? Testify against me and I will restore it to you. They said, "You have not defrauded or oppressed us or taken anything from man's hand. And he said, "The Lord and his anointed is witness against you this day, that you have not found anything in my hand. And they said, "He is witness."
Here our experienced Holy Spirit is casting affirmations within, confirming servitude in response to the needs of our thoughts (God powered mind you). An acknowledgement that we have been a channel to our Lord. Even as we succumb to a different perspective, our experience remains. As we have always been accommodating, as opposed to the withering of our abilities. And if we unknowingly acted in a selfish way, reparations would be granted for restitution. With all thought faculties, and before God, we acknowledge our wellness... Denial
Samuel said, "The Lord is witness, who appointed Moses (extract from that not based on truth) and Aaron (enlightener) and brought all your fathers up out of the land of Egypt (restraint). Therefore stand still that I may plead with you before the Lord concerning these righteous deeds the Lord performed for you and your fathers. When Jacob (restitution) went into the Land of Egypt and they oppressed them, your fathers cried out to the Lord and the Lord sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your fathers out that they may dwell in this place. But they forgot the Lord their God. And he sold them into the hands of Sisera (reactive), commander of the army of Hazor (focal point), and into the hand of the Philistines (foreign ideas), and into the hands of the king of Moab (embodiment), and they fought against them. They cried out to the Lord, 'We have sinned, because we have forsaken the Lord and have served the Baals (possessed by) and the Ashtaroth (idols). But now deliver us out of the hands of our enemies, that we may serve you. And the Lord sent Jerubbaal (contender to outer worship) and Barak (response) and Jephthah (open-mindedness) and Samuel (discernment) and delivered you out of the hands of your enemies on every side and you lived in safety.
When we distance ourselves from God's protection, we drift into an alternate set of ideas. These ideas look and feel normal until they don't. And when this happens, God will reach deep down within us and not only save us, He enlightens us and gives us hope. Even when we feel resolve in one area, we are consumed with burden in other areas. We cry out and God saves us. As if it was a game, we fall away and become walled up and mad. We allow outside ideas in and manifest those in our actions. We cry out our sins and admit that of which has control over us. Our Lord then provides strength to face our weakness, prepared responses instead of uncontrolled reactions, ability to open our mind and utilize acute understanding, and a true sense of security.
And when you saw that Nahash (enchantment), king of Ammonites (reckless thoughts caused by sinful thinking) came against you, you said, 'No, but a king shall reign over us', when the Lord your God was your king. Behold the king you have chosen, for whom you asked; behold, the Lord has set a king over you. If you fear the Lord and serve him and obey his voice and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord; both you and your king - it will be well. But if you go rebel, the hand of the Lord will be against you and your king. Now therefore stand still and see this great thing the Lord will do before your eyes. Is it not wheat harvest today? I will call upon the Lord to send thunder and rain, and you shall know and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day, all feared the Lord and Samuel.
And when the cunning whisper exposes our lack of focus due to poor decisions, we choose self-will. Our discernment reminds us that this decision does not exclude us from what has been commanded to us. That for which is needed, only need to be summoned and God will provide.
All the people said to Samuel, "Pray for your servants to the Lord your God, that we may not die, for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask for ourselves a king."
Imagine getting your way and regretting it and having no power over it except by pleading through your Holy Spirit.

And Samuel said, "Do not be afraid; you have done all this evil. Yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. And do not turn aside after empty things that cannot profit or deliver, for they are empty. For the Lord will not forsake his people, for his great name's sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you a people for himself. Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord, by ceasing to pray for you, and I will instruct you in the good and right way. Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you. But if still do wickedly, you shall be swept away, both you and your king."
And with this discernment, we move ahead. Though we can place ourselves in an impossible and regrettable position, we can still choose to do what is right, otherwise pay the consequences. Here is a double-edged sword.
How this speaks to me...
Sometimes I don't understand circumstances, until mid battle. The realization that I have chosen to fight for the wrong cause, can be demoralizing and can lead to the hideous 4 horse; terror, bewilderment, frustration, and despair. For deep down within every man, woman, and child is the fundamental ideal of God. Our discerning wisdom gained by our experiences reminds us that even in a seemingly impossible situation, we have the choice to do what is right or suffer even greater consequences.
